Unemployment -- 5.7 million unemployed equals a 4.1 percent unemployment rate.

"Real" Unemployment -- When 3.4 million discouraged workers and involuntary part-time workers are added to the 5.7 million officially unemployed, the "real" unemployment rate is 6.4 percent.

U.S. Auto Sales in Brief - January to December 1999

Total New Light Vehicles -- 2.7 million, up 13 percent from 1999.

Big Three Traditional Domestics -- 10.9 million, up 6.3 percent from 1998. Market share -- 64.5 percent, down 1.5 share points from 1998.

Transplants -- 424,500, up 23.6 percent from 1999. Market share -- 15.7 percent, up 1.2 share points from 1999.
